In Urdu, jaan means strength/life and anjaan means unknown.
The term (un)jaan is intended to convey the truth that there is so much about our own strength(s), conditioning and patterns that we are unaware of, misunderstand or don't know.
(un)jaan is an invitation to go deeper.
Our Mission
Healing minds, bodies, and spirits together.
(un)jaan supports individuals in understanding and healing themselves through movement, breathwork, meditation, reflection and rest.
Our offerings acknowledge that the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges we face are deeply tied to history/historical trauma, systems of power, cultural norms and conditioning, and the ways in which our societies are designed and function. This is why our individual and community practices are designed not only to strength the body but to sooth the nervous system, tend to our innate resilience, explore how we can resist harmful systems from our unique positioning in them, and find solace and refuge in community.
Our Anchors
Our approaches—grounded in techniques dating back thousands of years and modern science—emphasize individual and community healing. We tailor our methods to meet the unique needs and experiences of each person, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for healing, growth and transformation.
Being.
We meet ourselves where and how we are, even when it feels uncomfortable. No performing, pretending, pushing. We prioritize rest and nourishment. We do this to counter cultures of supremacy and domination that rely on us being disembodied, overworked and discontent and remember that our wholeness is unconditional.
Breathing.
We find refuge in our breath and, as such, the wisdom and strength of our bodies. We remember that this act of breathing is magical and vital and that by learning how to breathe fully we can shift energies. We tap into our inherent capacities to invite in and let go. We remember that breathing is an act of resistance.
Excavating.
When we allow ourselves to be and breathe, we start to excavate, to unearth the gifts and traumas we have inherited, the ways in which cultures of supremacy live in and through us and the spaciousness and love inside that can support us in resisting and healing.
